A little Humor to Start the Day

There are some things that just require a second take........you know, like, "Did he really take his phone into surgery?" Well, I wonder how that would be medically coded? LOL Funny, but it does seem that people are their phones and phones are their people, so to speak. I know this will eventually happen one day as bizarre as it sounds. The thing that really struck me funny about this little cartoon was the nurse wearing a nursing cap! Man, years ago......maybe 20 years ago we stopped wearing nursing caps so to see this connotation of a nurse with current cell phone technology is odd to me. Can you imagine all those tunes the phone could be ringing? I'm amazed at all the tunes in individual phones. I don't even know how mine got on my phone. Its been the same since Meghan put one in there for me! There is a really nice lady that puts her phone on at work and when she is away instead of putting it on vibrate mode, it plays loudly, and I mean loudly the song Freebird. This is definitely a change in the medical office setting. I've got where I just sing along to Freebird at least 2-3 times in one morning~~~flashback to the 70's baby! LOL

Here's another funny one. Another thing I just never wanted to think about was my parents and their.......you know.......sex life. I know I got here somehow but gosh, I don't want to ever really think about it!! LOL This little couple reminds me of my parents. She used to work in a bank.
Well, on to the day................Body Guard just said to me that he will be on the roof for a while. Roof? I said. "Yep, gotta get those gutters cleaned out". So, I'm crossing my fingers that he is not going to fall off of our Dutch -style roof house. I did get a sigh of relief last night when he finished cutting some small trees and branches with the chainsaw without at least one tear in his jeans! He actually has a pair of jeans that have a large hole in them about thigh-level where he almost cut his leg off with a chain saw. It's those testosterone levels. We all joke with him about it and tell him he is in fashion now with his ragged jeans. So, thank goodness, no legs were cut last night. Now, I have to cross my fingers he doesn't break his leg on top of the house this morning!
And all while I'm just reading and drinking my coffee.......LOL
Here's hoping you have a great sunny day filled with lots of humor!

The Welcome Sun!

Today the sun is out and I"m so, so glad. We have had so many dreary, rainy days......I would say that we have had almost 2 weeks of rain. The lakes are almost full again....which is good. Now, the sun is out today though and I'm now taking a lunch break at work, looking out the windows and thinking about how welcome the sunshine truly is.

We are supposed to have 5-6 days of this dry, sunny weather! Maybe we can get some outdoorsy stuff done this weekend.

Last weekend I spent 3-4 hours on organizing threads as they had really gotten into a mess. Sooooo much easier now to find what I need now. This weekend I plan to organize my charts and fabrics. I also have to work on finishing closet cleaning and donating. I may also put some things on ebay as well. I'm a pac rat so departing with anything is so hard, even a pair of worn out shoes.....LOL . But, I'm ready for the weekend ahead.

My hubbie and I are planning to work more on these "nesting" tasks. We agreed last night that it was time to think about the future more and stop investing endless amounts of time worrying about issues which have basically required our constant attention but have no resolution. Life is too short, that's for sure. So, some changes are on the horizon and I think it's for the better.
Back to work now,
Jennifer

The ship is now sailing

Tonight I finished the ship and now starting the dutch letters in the Presidential Blue, which is a lovely dark blue color. My frame came in the mail yesterday and just folded it to give you a little preview of what it will look like when its framed. I'm really liking it.

What If~~~

What if...

What would happen if you could fly whenever you wanted? When would you use this ability?

I would definitely fly to work instead of commute in the long traffic. This is my inital thought; however, I'm not a big fan of flying because it's scarey to me and I probably would choose other means. I would fly to Europe and visit art galleries and historic places for weekend trips!
What would happen if there were no television? Why would this be good? bad?

If there were no TV, I wouldn't have much trouble adjusting. However, I would miss feeling the connection with world news. I think in some ways no TV is probably good for children. I think there is too much violence on TV and it somewhat desensitizes children to what's right and wrong.

What if cows gave root beer instead of milk? Well, my hubbie would love that but I wouldn't at all. I definitely do not like root beer. I can remember people making root beer floats as a child and that really made me nauseated. I think maybe if cows gave us Pepsi, that would be better!
What if all the streets were rivers? What would be different?

We would all be getting boats instead of cars. Instead of jogging or walking for exercise, we would be swimming.

What would happen if people never co-operated? Why do you think it is important to co-operate? If people never co-operated, the world in general, the world would not be a good place to live. Teamwork and communication is key to success in anything, whether it's business, family, friendships, etc. Co-operating is just plain respectful.

What would happen if it really did rain cats and dogs?

Well, animal shelters would have to be bigger that's for sure!

What would happen if animals could talk? What are some of the questions you would like to ask animals? I've always wondered about this one. Sometimes, I wish my pets could talk to me, especially Ren because he seems to get into a whining phase a couple of hours every evening and nothing satisfies him. The one that would most likely talk all the time if possible would be Raven. She already grins and show her teeth when we come home and she is so needy. I would be able to ask Ruby why she barks all night too!

What are some of the things you could do that you cannot do now?

One thing I used to do is play tennis but not now. It's great exercise but does require alot of upper arm strength. I spent many Sunday afternoons playing tennis with my best friend at the city park tennis court.
What would happen if everyone wore the same clothes?

I can't even imagine this. There would definitely be less self-expression and individualization than what we have now which really makes life interesting. Malls would be nonexistent!
What would happen if you threw a piece of trash on the ground? What if everyone did? I believe in keeping highways clean and do not throw any trash out the window. Now, my car collects trash but it goes to the trash can and not out the window when I'm riding. If everyone threw trash out the window, we would not be able to enjoy the pretty flowers and green grass on the side of the road.
What would you do if your jelly sandwich fell upside down on the floor?

I would toss it out and toast another one.

What would you do if you dropped the cookie jar and it broke? Cry

What would you do if only one hot dog is left and neither you nor your friend have had one? I would give it to my friend.

What would you do if you found a magic wand? I would definitely wave it to instantly have a clean ,organized house. I would wave it on my bed so that every time I would lie down, I would sleep well through the night.

If you could have been someone in history, who would you have been?

Jackie Kennedy.

If you received any sum of money as a gift, what would you do with it?

Really depends on how much money; however, if substantial, I would buy a log house and go on a vacation to Europe.

If you were principal of a school, what would you do? I would be crazy!

If you were five years older you would... be 50 and would color my hair red...LOL

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing? Reading, stitching or watching TV.

In Memory of "Benjie"

Sad news over the weekend about my cousin, Benjie, who had been fighting cancer for quite awhile. He was only 40 years old. I haven't seen Benjie in several years but his life is definitely a witness to strength and courage. He went into remission for a couple of years and unfortunately this past year had recurrence of his tumor. I wanted to go to his funeral today but couldn't because I couldn't drive the 10 hour round trip. I just physically cannot do long trips with the cervical disc issues right now. I really wanted to go though.
I have some childhood memories of visiting my cousins, Pansy and Benjie. I remember Benjie at about 4 or 5 years old with a vivid imagination and running through the house with sheets tied around his neck as a cape. Those were fun times. He was Pansy's "little brother" and we watched over him several times. We grew up and kinda went our separate ways and the last time I saw him was at his father's funeral (my uncle).
I found this video online of one of my favorite songs in memory of Claude Benjamin (Benjie) Thompson. Benjie, may you be at peace now in heaven and your suffering has ended........

Four corners = Three Frogs

Here is the progress this weekend. You probably already spotted a problem here.....besides the wrinkles ;) For starters my camera is having a moment where taking a good picture is a challenge.
Well, I made good humor of it the first time I counted wrong but doggone this time again is really dissappointing. Here's what I did.......I counted with the 4 four corners of the pages put together the best I could and oh, how confusing for my ADHD mind was that? LOL
The ship's base has been frogged 2 times, fixing to be 3. The real problem is that I didn't go one more of the blue squigglies lines before I started counting the tips of four pages to intersect magically and make a ship! So, I'm giving up for the night but know that all of frogging is to be had tomorrow.
This afternoon earlier, I got all my fibers, and I mean all, and started organizing them in flossie bags with labels. I am organizing each company with one ring. This is so much better than having it strung all over the place and buying duplicates because its such a mess.
The DMC floss is in a nice little chest. The specialty threads were the issue. So, at least I accomplished one thing right today~````````````~~~~~~~Next stage is gathering all my charts and putting in one spot. Oh what fun lies ahead. I had an old system for floss storage that uses stitchbinders and I am going to sell those on ebay. I just love the plain ol' baggie system.
I have folded my fat quarters and lined them in the sewing nook former linen closet...............They look very appealing like that.
Off to bed, off to bed, count ,count, count, till there are no threads.

The Sun is Out Today

I awoke to the sunshine, just for a little while, before the clouds came in. Got to sleep late as well. Where's my coffee?

In Honor of Memorial Day

Yep, up late again. Officially Memorial Day. Got some stitching done today but not much else. I'm in a slump I think. It has rained here so hard today and for so long that I really cannot remember in the last couple of years when the rain has been so much. There was a time when we had a drought but the lakes are all up now and I do believe that sunshine would certainly be a welcome scene tomorrow. Haven't heard yet if we are having more flooding rains but oh, my it's time for Sunshine!
Cooked some pork chops, rice, and black-eyed peas with a sour cream pound cake for dessert for supper. Quite yummy.
To add to the dreariness this weekend, I got a call last night that my cousin, age 40, died from a long-term illness of a brain tumor and his funeral will be Tuesday. The funeral will be 5 hours away from here and I really don't know yet if I can make the trip with all the neck issues I'm having.
So between the heavy rain, dark clouds, Brandon leaving for Afghanistan, and then the news of my cousin dying, I can't say the weekend is a happy one.
I hope that everyone else is having a fun stitchy weekend! Stay safe and enjoy the time off.
Nite nite,
Jennifer
